Diana aged 17 from Accrington near Blackburn has been a clear favourite with the X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue right from the early days of the competition.
Her first live performance saw a very nervous Diana take on the massive U2 hit "with or without you". Diana's performance was absolutely stunning and gained approval and some excellent comments from the x-factor panel. Many fans had noticed that Diana was singing barefoot, which was apparantly a decision Diana had made because she feels uncomfortable wearing high heels.
Diana Vickers has gone from strength to strength during the live finals of this years X factor show.
There have been some problems on the way though for the stunning northern lasse. A throat infection had threatened to end her x factor journey when it was decided she was too ill to sing during the Mariah Carey week.
A controversial decision was made to give Diana a free pass through to the next stage of the competition. Although Diana herself desperately wanted to take part in the show, the doctors who were looking after Diana, warned the shows producers that if she didn't rest her voice there was a clear chance of permanent damage. Some fans of the show critised the decision and claimed Diana Vickers may have struggled to sing a Mariah Carey style song.
A further storm developed when one of the shows favourites, Laura White was voted out on the week Diana missed. A Diana Vickers Scandal soon errupted with calls for Diana to be dropped from the show to allow Laura White to return. Such was the controvery that questions were even raised in Parliament!!
This clearly proves the popularity of the ITV television show and how seriously the British public are supporting their favourite acts remaining. Thankfully Diana Vickers is still in the running and now looks a clear favourite to lift the crown and the million pound recording contract offered by Simon Cowell.
